This was a particularly special wedding and event to document. The bride and her family have been dear friends since before we were born and the property and home I’ve known since toddlerhood. Some of my favorite childhood memories have taken place there. Ruth didn’t live particularly close to my family, so going there always felt like an event and we always seemed to make the most of the precious hours we had, feeling pressured to pack in as much fun things as possible before we had to part ways again. I have so many memories there of our siblings and us playing tag in the fields, hours upon hours of barbies, playing “little women”, board games (that often ended in tears over competitiveness), and lots of late night sleepover talks about boys and “the wedding day”…
A couple nights before the wedding Ruth sent me this text with a photo of the view of the ceremony setup from her bedroom window “Mary, i have spent my whole life enjoying this view from my window. Looking at it now seems like the most surreal feeling in the world. Can you believe i am getting married this weekend?!”
It really did seem surreal, arriving there and seeing the property and barn transformed into a beautiful wedding venue. All in all, the day itself unfolded into an event that years of daydreams couldn’t beat. It was beautiful, effortless and lovely, down to the last detail, and the love between Ruth and Dustin and their friends and family was the glue to the whole thing. I would relive this day again and again if I could. Thank for having me along to document it, #bucketoflove.
